The electricity minister disputes the EFF

 The electricity minister disputes that the EFF's "national shutdown" had anything to do with the end of load shedding.

Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, the minister of electricity, has refuted claims that the EFF's "national shutdown" protest was a factor in this week's suspension of load shedding.

Eskom cited an increase in generation capacity as the reason load shedding was halted from Friday till Wednesday morning. Stage 3 load shedding will then be deployed until 5am on Thursday after stage 2 load shedding is implemented until 4pm.


As supporters of the EFF and other political parties gathered in the streets on Monday for a "national shutdown," the blackouts were suspended.

Ramokgopa rejected claims that the EFF's demonstrations prevented power disruptions when he addressed the media at the Duvha Power Plant in Mpumalanga.
